Kristina Lewis, born and raised in Stow, OH, has been dancing since the age of two. She grew up dancing competitively while training in a variety of dance styles, including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. Following high school, she continued her dance training at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. In 2021, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance, with concentrations in Performance & Choreography and Business Administration. During her time at SRU, she was fortunate to have studied with many brilliant artists, including Lindsay Fisher-Viatori, Jesse Factor, Bill Evans, Jenna Riegel, and Ursula Payne. She also had the opportunity to study dance abroad in Italy with the SRU dance department in the summer of 2019. During that same summer, Kristina was grateful to obtain her first professional dance position with Theatre West Virginia and returned as Dance Captain in the summer 2021 season. In July 2022, Kristina completed her first contract as a dance company member and performer for the West Virginia Dance Company, traveling throughout the state to perform for a variety of audiences. During her time in the company, she had the opportunity to work with many talented choreographers including the company’s Director and Founder, Toneta Akers-Toler, Gerri Houlihan, Heather Taylor-Martin, Dane Toney, and Donald Laney. Part of her journey with the West Virginia Dance Company included traveling to different school districts, performing the educational program titled Exploration Earth: Your World through STEAM. This program exhibited movements specific to each continent on earth to deliver significant information to the students within the audience and was often followed by classroom workshops to invite critical thinking and enhance the experience of their creative learning process. Kristina is grateful to be joining CDP company as an Apprentice for the 2023-24 season, and excited to see what the year has in store!
